Susan Marks, RN, BSN, PHN, is a native Californian and received her Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Mount Saint Mary's College in 1984. Nurse Susan has clinical experience in adult Medical/Surgical; pediatric Oncology/Hematology; home care; case management; disease management; quality improvement; and, risk management.
Currently, Nurse Susan is a cannabis nurse and a member of the American Cannabis Nurses Association. She works with medical patients who want to include cannabis therapeutics in their health management program. Under the current circumstances, with cannabis being illegal at the federal level but legal at the state level, doctors are reluctant to discuss cannabis with their patients, so the patient's only option is to get advice from the “budtender” at a dispensary. Unfortunately, they are not educated on medical diseases and often give the wrong advice. This is where Nurse Susan comes in. She educates and consults with individuals and groups on:
• the endocannabinoid system and how cannabis works in their body
and with their disease process
• how to select safe and reliable products
• the dosing process
• the risks and benefits of cannabis.
With this knowledge, medical patients can make informed decisions about their cannabis regimen. Nurse Susan works with patients in all legal cannabis states.
Nurse Susan is passionate about the therapeutic benefits of cannabis. She is a medical cannabis patient due to a progressive neurological movement disorder and cannabis (high CBD, low THC) has allowed her to wean off anti-seizure medication and the intolerable side effects. Nurse Susan is very grateful for this plant, and she enjoys working with other patients who can benefit from cannabis therapy.
